James baldwin did it, wasn't easy but find the light as a preacher but leave it behind and start writing. Ardent civil rights defensor, a bit of malcolm X and luther king, he was nicknamed as Martin Luther Queen.
He wrote books, largely inpired by his biography, so you will find giovanni´s room, beale street and a guy on the top of the mountain telling clera and loud about being black and gay in the 60´s.
